Respite stays, also known as Short-term stays, are great for when caregivers travel out of town or simply need a break from the stresses of care-giving. It is a convenient option when planned or unforeseen circumstances require a temporary separation from your loved one. Knowing they can move seamlessly into an emergency care environment that supports their wellness needs allows peace of mind when you are called away for business or vacation, or if you just need a short break from caregiving.
A respite care stay also offers guests and family members the extra security of long-term care nursing assistance during an illness or rehabilitation after a hospital visit, and may even be helpful before, during, or after an emergency affecting the senior’s home environment, such as an extreme weather event.
We will work closely with your loved one’s caregivers to ensure a smooth transition from home to Harbour View. Home health aides are also welcome to accompany your loved one during their stay.
Many permanent residents first experienced our community life during a short-term stay. Short-term residential care guests experience many of the services and amenities available to permanent residents. Short-Term Stay seniors move into an attractive, furnished apartment and enjoy three delicious, well-balanced meals served daily in an elegant dining room, as well as snacks available throughout the day. Nursing care and dedicated, well-trained team members are available 24-hours a day to provide personal assistance with daily needs, which may include bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, assistance with eating, mobility, medication management and more.
Short-term senior residents may participate in any of our social, educational, devotional and recreational programming and activities, as well as scheduled group trips to local restaurants and stores. Their stay may coincide with the monthly wellness visit by a licensed nurse, and they can take advantage of our on-site beauty salon or barber shop.
*Short-term stays are based on space availability and the guest’s ability to meet the community’s admissions criteria.
